Shmoove
A downloadable game for Windows
Shmoove is a fast paced FPS Speedrunning game with mechanics heavily inspired by Titanfall 2.
Run, Slide, Jump, Double Jump, Wallrun, and Grapple your way through Unique Level Concepts and get to the end as fast as you can!
I plan to expand these levels, as well as add more!
This is a project I have been working on for quite some time, and it is finally in a state where it is beginning to feel like a playable game.
It was originally developed as a Tower Defense like game, inspired by Titanfall's Frontier Defense game mode, but the scope quickly got too large for me to be able to accomplish on my own. I decided to simplify my goal and focus on what I already had going for the game, which was the movement. I have made some basic level design concepts and packaged them in a playable demo with hopes for some feedback.
Please let me know what you think if you decide to try it!
The game will save 3 files to C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\Godot\app_userdata\Shmoove
"local_records.save" is used to keep track of your best speedrun times and can be reset by going to Main Menu>Modifiers>Clear Records
"local_state.save" is to keep track of changed settings. To reset these, delete the file and re-open the game
"input_bindings.json" is to keep track of input binds. You can reset binds to default in either Controller or Key Binding screens
Controls are remappable
Both Keyboard/Mouse and Controllers are supported
Default Controls:
Movement: WASD or Left Joystick
Jump: Space or Right Bumper
Crouch: Shift or Left Bumper
Grapple: Q or Left Stick Click
Aim: Right Mouse or Left Trigger
Shoot: Left Mouse or Right Trigger
Reload: R or "X"
Cycle Weapon: 1 or "Y" (hold for weapon 3)
Melee: V or Right Stick Click
Grenade: G or "B"
Interact: F or "X"
Pause: Esc or Start
There are few other things still in the game currently as hold-overs from the original project that you will see. All of the guns and weapons are there because I didn't want to get rid of the systems I already made for them in case I want to incorporate shooting into this game later somehow.
You currently have A primary, Secondary, and Tertiary Weapon slot with a menu in the pause screen to select your weapons. "1" on Keyboard or "Y" on controller switches between weapon 1 and 2, and holding it will switch to the third weapon.
You also have grenades, which can be used to grenade boost if you want extra speed for some damage, though I don't know if these will stay in the game either. Mouse button 4 or "B" on controller. If you hold it until it explodes, you get launched where you're looking and will take 70 damage.
The game also features an Experimental Control Scheme that combines jump and crouch into one button. It's called "release to jump" and you can enable it in settings if you'd like to try it. It makes holding space or right bumper begin a crouch. Letting go will jump. Grapple is rebound to left bumper for controllers and a manual crouch is set to left stick click. It takes some time to get used to, but it can help make your movement feel smoother, particularly with controllers more so than keyboard, but feel free to try it out!
